Grant Writing Training 101 with Erika Mork

Location: Virtual Training

Time: 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Geared toward beginners or those looking to build confidence and brush up their skills, learn how to identify prospects, interpret guidelines, write competitive proposals, and manage relationships with philanthropic grantmakers over time.

Erika Mork is a former Fulbrighter and University of Minnesota Humphrey School of Public Affairs Policy Fellow who holds an MBA with an emphasis in nonprofit management. She has ten years of consulting experience and more than a decade of director-level experience in development, marketing, and communications with both nonprofit and governmental organizations. In addition, Erika previously served four years as ex-officio executive director of an operating foundation and also reviewed grant proposals and conducted site visits on behalf of a private grantmaker for more than five years. While much of her experience involves working with well-established groups, she also has first-hand knowledge of what it takes to engage volunteers, develop a board, establish a brand, and raise funds to build a successful nonprofit from the ground up through co-founding a 501(c)(3).

Erika is a Certified Fund Raising Executive who has twice assisted CFRE, Int'l as part of a small group of subject matter experts, reviewing professional exam questions at their headquarters and determining the pass point for certification. As a long-time member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, former award judge for the Minnesota Association of Government Communicators, skilled grantwriter, and seasoned leader, she applies her expertise to increase the capacity of organizations to fulfill their missions and better serve their constituencies. Erika was selected to travel to Kazakhstan to serve as a Public Affairs Section Speaker with the U.S. Department of State, providing training on grantwriting to U.S. Embassy and U.S. Consulate General employees, university faculty and staff, and NGO leaders from across the country. She currently works as director of institutional giving and passes along her knowledge on the University of Lynchburg campus as an adjunct professor of nonprofit leadership studies within the Masters of Nonprofit Leadership Studies Program.
