Location: United Way of Central VA

Time: 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Building a Culture of Philanthropy, presented by Shannon L. Watts, CFRE

What is a culture of philanthropy, and how does your nonprofit organization achieve and maintain one?

Join Shannon L. Watts, CFRE and soon-to-be MA in Philanthropy and Development as she explores how to build and maintain a culture of philanthropy in grassroots nonprofit organizations. Shannon recently completed the Master of Philanthropy and Development program at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, where her capstone project focused on building a culture of philanthropy. During this interactive presentation, Shannon will explore the steps and barriers to building and maintaining a culture of philanthropy and how a culture of philanthropy can positively impact fundraising results, staff morale, and stakeholder relationships.

This workshop will provide you with:

  • A process for understanding your nonprofit organization’s philanthropic culture
  • Open discussion about barriers to building and maintaining a culture of philanthropy
  • Guidance on how grassroots nonprofit organizations are uniquely primed for a culture of philanthropy
  • Recommended industry resources about a culture of philanthropy
  • A call to action for building and maintaining a culture of philanthropy

Thanks to the scholarship program with the Greater Lynchburg Community Foundation, the cost for the training is $50.00 for those affiliated with nonprofit organizations. (Originial cost for training $75.00). ** In order to reach as many non-profits as possible, please limit the number of scholarships your organization uses. **

**DISCLAIMER: Note registering for an event reserves a spot. Registrants will be required to pay and refunds CANNOT be issued for cancellations unless your spot is filled by a walk-in. If you cannot make the training and would like to send someone from your organization in your place, this is acceptable, but please let Sarah Blankenship, our Executive Director, know at info@cvane.org**
