This Nonprofit Series course is taught by Emily Caldwell, a BoardSource-certified Nonprofit Board Consultant. By the end of the course, participants will be prepared to be an effective board member. Participants will learn about BoardSource's five governance units: basic roles and responsibilities, the board building cycle, the board-executive relationship, the board's role in fundraising and how to structure a high performance board. The course also includes discussions about board assessments, purpose-driven board leadership and questions to ask before joining a board of directors. A survey at the conclusion of the course will assist SHARE Greater Lynchburg in facilitating a match between young professionals ready to serve and nonprofit organizations seeking committee and board leadership.
